ABOUT THE BOYS

This quartet started singing together in January 2007. They made their debut on the Fremont Pathfinder's Annual Spring Show in March.   Beat Street is all about the enjoyment of singing barbershop style. Our goal is to have fun and sing sing sing as often as we can. We are having a blast! Just let us sing for you and find out!

Get to know Lee

Lee Cavner, Lead, has been a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society for 12 years now and this is his second quartet. He's got a nice, bright melody voice which "punches through nicely" and gives the harmony parts "something to hang their hats on." When he's not singing, he runs his own business, The Computer Guy and The Empress Health Store. He and his wife, Traci, live in Fremont, NE. Lee has one daughter from a previous marriage that still lives in Germany, two step-daughters, one step-son and one grand daughter and a new grandson.

Get to know Tom

Tom Carmichael, Tenor, joined the quartet in the spring of 2016 and has already shown why he is masterful at filling in those wonderful high notes.  Tom has been a member of the Pathfinders for 2 years and has been a Barbershopper for over 20 years. Tom and his wife Cammi live in Oakland, NE with their 2 daughters. Tom and Cammi both work in the healthcare field.

Get to know Jeff

Jeff Nelson, Bass, has been a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society for 10 years now and this is also his first attempt at quartetting. Jeff adds "the foundation" to Beat Street's sound. He sings those wa-a-arm, lo-o-ow notes that Greg only dreams of hitting. Greg's been known to interrupt during a rehearsal of a song and say, "Wow! That's a good note, Jeff!" Of course, the quartet cannot continue singing after that. Jeff also sings in his church choir. Jeff has been employed at Valmont Industries in Valley, NE for 30 years. He and his wife, Kathy, live in Fremont, NE. They have two children out on their own.

Get to know Kenny

Ken Gaskin, Bari, has been a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society for 16 years.  He just can't get enough singing, he provides those magic notes in between all others that make the barbershop sound. Ken is a concrete contractor where he does commercial and residential flat work in the Fremont area. Ken is married to Barbie (a marriage made by Mattel!), and they have 5 really neat kids that have left the nest, leaving him more time to harmonize!
